Thanks guys.
Bill thanks again.
elgindave I recognize that photo, but can't place it?? $200 for a black and white and red Merc, you bet, grab it up.
Larry The tag says Sunset Boat Co. Silverton, Ore. Model-Chetah
someone posted here saying a Sidewinder clone. All I know is the whole package was $200.
I ran in the second to last hole for tilt, turning a Solas 21 pitch aluminum 3 blade, 5000 on the tach, 64 GPS. I also had in the boat an extra battery and a electric trolling motor. My buddy with me weighs in around 195 and I had 12 gallons of gas.
If I shed some weight and spin a 21 stainless maybe I could get to 70. It is a pretty light little boat so I gotta watch out, if I sunk the boat, oh well, but if I lost a 1350 Tower in 275 feet of lake, well that would be NOT good at all.

Geeeeese Larry, you went and let the cat out of the bag.
Now these guys here are gonna think I was an I/O guy. Well, maybe they won't read this post.
I actually, on Saturday, had my 115 on this boat at the lake. I lost compression on the #1 hole and had to take it home and put the 1350 on. Tuesday I was back on the water. My buddy hates outboards and he was poking fun at me for smoking a piston. I explained to him that the boat he was riding in was back on the water with another engine. If his I/O would have lost a piston, he would not have been back on the water quite so quickly. I was gentle, we are still friends!
I am going to come to your neck of the woods and we will go round up some Mercury iron. I would think there are lots of them there since they are made in your back yard.
But I am not coming in the winter, I did two winters in Wisconsin and that is enough. Cold is not the correct word. It takes a whole sentence to describe what that feels like.

No Neil I know you were ALWAYS a Merc Man (( Wink , Wink )) Put a sign on back of your boat for your I/O Buddy .. Please excuse my Rouster Tail ..It will give him something to read when the Merc Blows past him ..WI Winters arent that bad . Only went 20 below a handfull of days last year .All ya gotta do up here is go out to the shop , Throw another log in the old wood stove and work on Old Boats and trucks .. Winter goes right on by ya !! We got NO poisonous snakes or Spiders . No fleas , Locus ,Cock Roachs , Huricanes and only a RARE Tornado .And we got the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers ..(( Hopeing for a season this year ..)) So a Little Cold and what we got up here is better than the things we dont have .But hey I was born a Chease Head so maybe Im Partial ...L.O.L...

Neil, after getting the rig for $200, you just put it on the water and it ran that well? Or did you rebuild the motor first?
Thats amazing!

Jim
When I got this boat and motor I took it home and went over it.
New plugs. New gearcase lube. I pulled the lower unit and checked the water pump. I checked the timing, it was at 21, I left it alone. I pulled the dist. cap and cleaned everything up in there. I did not pull the carbs. I ran it in a tank at home and got the idle screws close. I then went over all of my fuel system and made sure it was all up to par. I let it set over night to see what the cold start was going to be like and I then hooked up the muffs and ran it. My choke button in the control is shot so I have to pull the hood to choke but I will have that working by the weekend of the Fourth.
I took it to the lake and ran it with the 4 blade composite 19 that was on it. Pulled like a tractor, but nothing up on top. I changed to the 21 aluminum, tilted the beast back and gassed it.
You could see me grinnin' from Tampa Bay!!!!!!! :)
