Finally got around to getting my motors on down to my garage and displayed and thought I would share. Most are pretty common, but just good picks when I was a teenager.

I like the Elgins.. both 1952 models if I remember correctly... the smaller is the 1.5 horse air-cooled model; the larger is a 7.5 hp with forward/neutral/reverse.

this Sea King is in great shape.. my father has her sister, a gray painted model.

This one is an interesting model... not really sure what it is, never chased it down. The motor is missing the flywheel shroud. Take note that it has the original tiller handle and three control nobs. Part of the cavitation plate is broken off. It has a plug oposite of the rope-pull which looks like it would be for an auxillary power cord output. pretty darn cool!

The only serial number looking markings I could find.

Real interesting spark plug configuration.

That is a nice little collection of classic motors. I have the same 35 hp "Next Generation Javelin Jr" that I really need some shift and throttle cables for...have everything else.

Your mystery motor is a Sears & Roebuck "Waterwitch", c. late 1930s/early 1940s, likely the 3.5hp model.

Barnfinder.. nice motor...

Here is a copy of the front cover of the 1958 accessory booklet. Your controls should look like the shipmaster unit pictured, all white with red lettering stating "shipmaster" on the tag. Although,a similar style Evinrude Simplex will work too. I am using a good simplex unit for the 'guts' and refinishing a Shipmaster shell to put my controls together.

a picture of the simplex control for comparison.

My controls are Johnson Shipmaster and look like the following. Mine are in great shape....just gotta find some cables because the shift cable is missing the end with the pin(and spring) and the throttle cable is cracked and splitting.

barnfinder... those look great and work the same... just trying to show what the correct Shipmaster 'housing' looks like for 1958. The only year for that style of badge on the 'housing' I think the one shown is for 1960 or so vintage motors, but will certainly work, not trying to rain on any parade, just thought you would enjoy seeing the actual controls that would have been bought with the motor.
