TOPIC: Silver Lake

I'm almost ready. Need to hook up the throttle and shift controls, but that's no big deal. PT&T works, may need oil, that's no big deal. Tach zeroes out when I turn the key, that's good. Motor turns over when I go to start it, that's good. Still need to fill LU, no biggie. Gotta throw the gas tanks in, oil, coast guard stuff. Need to pack clothes for the weekend, and figure out what tools to bring. Boat needs to be washed inside and out, no biggie. Gotta jack up each side of the trailer, adjust the axle nuts, make sure lug nuts are tight, check air on trailer and truck tires. Just all this stuff takes time. Gotta run to Albany on errands tonight, so for the most part, this is all stuff getting done in the a.m. before I go unless I think it can just wait till I get there. Then I just hope it runs!

I hope to leave by 9, but no guarantees. It's a least a 6 hour drive. I'll be going to Paradise Boat works 1st, dropping off the boat, then checking into my cabin at Letchworth. I hope everybody traveling to this event has a safe trip. Be careful!

I'm sending my 23P 3 blade with Frank for anyone who'd like to try it. I think Frank's boat looks dandy with the new Brightsides on it. It sure has a nice shine.

I'll be working on my Power Cat 18DC today. Paint came last week to redo the top. Got all the glass work touch up done. I couldn't believe last summer, first launch. Was docked at the outside dock on the island when a freak storm came up and pounded the side that had been so badly damaged back in the 60's again. But with big bumpers on the dock and boat it rode out 30 degree rolls nicely, except for one nail sticking out of the side of the dock that scored half a dozen deep gouges in the gunwale and rub rail. Easy fix, but you shouldn't have to do that before the paint is barely dry! So with that repair needed, I pulled both motors and all the hardware and sanded down the top, touched up the transom nicks from mounting and position two motors (I know where they go now!) and will repaint....as soon as the pine pollen is out of the air.

The 18DC will be coming to the St. Lawrence with us on June 22 - July 10 and get some serious run time.
