I finally got the glasspar unpacked, and started working on it again.... It was a pretty productive day, I got a lot of those small jobs done that have been bugging me, mostly dealing with installation of the seats...

In the afternoon, once the sun is a bit much for working outside, I went down to the basement to work on the motor a bit. It's NICE to have an air conditioned shop!! I had a water pump rebuild kit, so I decided to install it. It all went pretty well- And a few hours later, I had it all put back together, and stepped back to admire my work.

Then- I saw it... Sitting on the workbench, staring back at me.

The motor is a long shaft- and as such has an extension section on the lower unit... There is an extender tube that gets installed over the drive shaft. Of course, this HAS to be done while the lower unit is off- NOT after it's installed.

Oh well. I've got plenty of practice now removing and installing fat 50 lower units now....

Oh- And one more tip- Make sure the tilt lock is engaged BEFORE removing the lower unit! Taking that extra weight off caused the motor to tilt- Which threw the whole thing off balance, and she took a nosedive to the floor! I was lucky to escape injury, and the motor appears to have been lucky, too- Some superficial damage.... Luckily, the cat was under it and caught the brunt of it (kidding, of course :) )
