New owner looking for help. 13 years 11 months ago #32607

I recently bought from what the title says a 1962 Hiway Prod 13' fiberglass boat. I am sure for a little info a boat that small can carry I still can not turn up anything about it.

My other questions are about repairs. Like how to paint the outside, What should/could I use to cover the inside of the hull. Right now it's covered in that green almost grass looking material you would see on a patio and my plan was to remove that to clean the boat up a bit. Also, The boat has been sitting on the trailer for so long uncovered that about 2 feet from the rear of the boat the rollers on the trailer have kind of formed around it. Is there anyway possible to either pop it back into shape? Is bondo and fiberglass the best combo to fill the depressions?

Know I am asking a lot just trying to get as much information as possible.

You have to be careful with boat repairs !
If bondo and filler fall out of a car fender at 60 MPH , the car just keeps rolling along.
If bodo and filler fall out of a boat in rough water then it ruins your day.
There are many books on how to do boat repairs.

Welcome Kaiten. If you'll look in the toolbar across the top of the page, there is a button called "Reestoration". There are several articles there that contain some info you're looking for, and I'm told a book called "Runabout Renovation" also has some good instructions for beginners. (I've ordered a copy myself, although out of print it is available used on Barnes & Noble, Ebay, etc.)
