I read through the article twice and did not see a recommended compound? What is you preferred product to pickup were the 1000 grit leaves off?

I have the same question. I am not sure what compound to use.

Hello fiberglassics! I'm brand new here and am "sprucing up" a '58 Whitehouse Bonito that I learned to ski behind as a 6 yr old when the boat was new. Reading Jamil Mehdis article "Restoring Gel Coat" provided everything I needed to know except the product he would recommend for compounding following wet sanding with 1000 grit. Help?

After a good wet sanding of 1000. Buff with 2000. Then its up to you if you want to go farther in the buffing process.

Otherwise a good product line is Wizard they have all the grades too.

I use a 3M product, but I'm at work and it is at home in my shop. I'll take a look tonight. I got it at NAPA.

I used Turtle Wax rubbing compound then the Turtle wax polishing compound, then waxed it with Carnauba wax. If I had to do it agin I would probably use Finesse it, which I think is a 3M product if I remember right.
