Well... I finished pulling off my steering wheel tonight and finally I confirmed a thought running in the back of my mind... my RED boat wasn't originally RED! It was Coral PINK! I am not sure if I'll go back pink, but one thing for sure, I will leave this original gel coat under the dash so that a future restorer will have an idea what the original color was!

Yup... CORAL PINK!!

Red wasn't an option- They came in Mediterranean Blue, Suntan (that's what mine was, a brown/red/tan color), and PINK!

I'm going to make mine pink... Why? WHY NOT! I figure if I'm doing it, I might as well go all out. Nothing screams 50's more than coral pink!

Do me a favor- I want to replicate that color as closely as possible- Can you take a photo of it for me with something WHITE (even a piece of paper) and something BLACK in it?? This will allow me to 'adjust' for your lighting, and get as close to the correct color of pink that I can, by adjusting the white balance... Then, I can get the color mixed just right!

Sure thing, I will print a white/black sheet here at work. Didn't think about that, I can color correct here too with photoshop. Will do, maybe not until tomorrow night.

Would love to see a boat that is the Suntan... this has me rethinking what I cam gonna refinish this as... hmmm

Well, This is what suntan looks like after 50 years in the sun-

Kind of ironic, really... I think it tanned a little too long! I'm assuming that it was suntan, I think that it's darker than the pink. I guess I'll know for sure when I pull the dash.

The photo of the Arrowhead on this page-

is a great example of the suntan- It's on the Michigan Fiberglass boat that is absolutely MINT...

These are the two colors I 'pulled' out of the photos after doing some color correction... I used the phantom black on the Merc and the bimini top as my black and white on the Suntan boat, and on yours I used the cable and the paper towels on the wall- So it's probably CLOSE.... It'll be interesting to see how close-
