TOPIC: Minor project

Minor project 13 years 5 months ago #30569

Changed the color of my steering wheel from red metallic to silver metallic today, then applied an OEM Quicksilver sticker right where it belonged and clear coated it 5 times. The red tinge in the center that you see here is covered by a black metallic plate, soon to have the Power Cat logo on it.

Gee thanks, but it wasn't too hard. Roughed up the old clear coat with some 220 (I think), cleaned it with acetone, gave it 3 or 4 coats of rattle can silver metallic, then 4 or 5 coats of clear. The stuff I use you gotta re-coat it before an hour, and after 10 minutes, so after sanding and cleaning, it took a couple hours to do with a bunch of 15 minute breaks in between coats.

Minor project done - ready for install! 13 years 5 months ago #30603

Can't wait to get a coat of paint on the deck, motor on, maybe some electrical stuff. Got the rebuilt hubs on this a.m., first coat of paint on the new 3' longer tongue, gotta take a shower, off to the in-laws for Easter. Hope y'all have a great Easter!

I have one of those wheels with everything but the faceplate and cable. John Gibson is doing me a huge favor on a wheel I sent him, so you or anyone else can have the RideGuide I have as a way of giving back. Anyone interested can just pay for postage and I'll send it to them free.

I made the faceplate from a thin piece of aluminum plate to replace the old cracked plastic one.
