i just finished a boat rack /stand that i can put most any runabout on,up to about 17 feet, and hopefully as i work on the boat im doing at that time,i can push it in and out of the garage.
the plan is to be able to put 2x6 0r 2x8s flat across the stand, where ever a support needs to be,im also planing on putting eye hooks in the outside 2x8s so i can strap the boat down when moving it.
as for the cross pieces i plan on making wedges that will hold the boat steady,to keep it from rolling.each one resuable for differnt boats.there are 2 pics,im on dial up,john the wheels are 10 inch.

John ........

Instead of wedges to keep the hull from tipping, saw four of these out of plywood and bolt them to the ends of your frame.

Then, while somebody holds the hull level, just turn each of them until they contact the hull. You could even pad them with carpet padding or something. Then you could C-clamp them to keep them from rotating or bore a hole through the plywood and your frame to insert a pin.

If you wanted to, you could bore a whole circle of holes in the plywood and one matching hole in the frame. Then you'd rotate the plywood "cam" until the closest hole lines up and stick a pin in the hole.

If you have an odd-shaped hull, say a Whaler or something, it's easy enough to make a special cam just for that type.

I call them "Pac-Clamps" for obvious reasons. :)

John,
Excellent work on the stand I like it. That should work for all your projects.
Clark,
Great idea there. I have to remember that one.

I bought these at a boat swap meet for 75.00 for the 2. they are easy and simple to copy, The thing I like about them ,you can adjust the pipe up or down to adjust a bunk,,a guy could use a wood structure just as easy and when we store them it is only 2ft x3ft then one on top of each other, just a thought Bill
