Hello all....
I used to be on the CGOA forums all the time.
Still there periodically,
But now spend most my forum time on the MN chapters forum.
Love classic boats.
Particulary fond of the Glastron/Carlson lines.
I've got a 1980 Intimidator that was in super tough shape.
So far,
I replaced the tank with a plastic 27 gallon.
Replaced fuel lines, filters, separater, rebuilt carb....
New plugs... New center rise exhaust manifolds.
Replaced the floor. Removed the flotation boxes in the rear (Will replace within 2 weeks)
Replaced the engine water pump
Bought a rebuilt outdrive
wow... I'm sure there's more, doesn't sound like much
The boat is currently in the 'body shop' gettin the final touches to the hull.
Had some cracks... from misc impacts, and from a huge tree limb falling across the bow.
They did the crack repair, masked and reshot the powder blue
accent color on the top half, and touched up some dings and cracks in the flake.
It was a Barn find. The only problem is that it was OUTSIDE the barn.
I got an original 1980 Intimidator interior from a fellow Glastron'er in California (I'm in MN)
It's in really good shape.
Only needs a couple fixes, like flipping over the bench cushions,
new zippers need to be sewn into the bench cushions...
Other than that, it's in great shape!!! (THANX ANDY)
After further inspection, my interior Gunwhale?Gunnel? pleating is in good shape!
Just needs to be wrapped over new ply and foam.
I am opting NOT to completely carpet the interior.
Rather, I am going to match the powder blue accent gel from the hull,
and hit the entire inside of the boat. 100%. Should be nice and clean!
Then, if I find myself needing traction (Surely)
I will either mix up some silica sand with what goes on the floor,
Or make a custom snap in carpet insert.
(Anyone have experience with the sand in the gel thing? Does it hold up well?)
At any rate....
I get the boat back from the shop Wed of this coming week.
1st thing is to build the new flotation boxes,
sand, fill, final mat over footrest, mat over boxes,
then gelcoat the whole inside.
Then the interior goes in.
Then the new stereo (Two 12" subs, Amp, and 4 component speakers, sony CD player with Aux in for iPods n such)
Then I can get new gauges.....
After that it's just a matter of buying a replacement windshield ($600, original reproduction)
Paint trailer... repaint the rebuilt outdrive....
She should look pretty good all said and done!!!
I'll slap a few pics up.
Nothing more current than the past two weeks
