TOPIC: couple Hydro-cycles

couple Hydro-cycles 13 years 6 months ago #28771

Earlier this week a guy posted up on here that he had a couple hydro-cycles that needed a new home. They were only about 30mins from my house so, last night I ran over to see if they were savable... They were indoors until a couple years ago so they are realllly solid. most of the mechanisms are intact and there was 1 seat I could use as a pattern. Im going to take 1 to my dad for him to restore (he is laid off currently) and as soon as the drag boat is done Ill pull the other in the garage and give it a fresh coat of paint. Im debating between powder coating the bars, painting them or rechroming them. Prolly look for a couple 25hp motors and atv style thumb throttles (deadman switches of course)

Sweet! More hydrocycles!

I got one too, it should end up looking like this when I get there.

I had a chance at one but had to come back to get it. I was sure i could remember where it was but still haven't remembered and that was a few years ago!

we had a decent rain last night and it did a good job washing the cycles off... I actually think I can just buff up the purple one, add a bow hook and motor and be on the water. Very little work going to be needed to that 1. On the grey 1, the gelcoat next to the transom has a chunk out of it so Ill need to do some work to it before I paint it.

Wow, those are nice. If it were me I would fix them both up together at the same time.
Twin cycles like that are rare in a pair like that. They look like they will be quite solid and fun.

I ran into a snag with trying to register these in Il... They said I had to get the original Wi registration. So, I get ahold of wdnr, they looked them up and told me to just register them with them, they really dont care if its under 16'. $27 later and the purple one is registered, now I just need a motor. Im going to "ratrod" it this summer and restore it this winter.

Great find! We are mid way through a restoration of a similar beast for my son. Not sure what it is but the hull is shaped like a Hydro-cycle. The bow is quite different and your feet sit like a scooter instead of straddling the center. Any help with an identification would be great!
