TOPIC: Dorsett Boat model Identification

Hey all, recently got my first powered boat to get on the water for this summer. Got it from my grandfather and all I know about it from the registration paperwork passed down to me, its a 1962 Dorsett that's 14 feet long. The floor has had some standing water so I'm going about clearing the rotting wood and applying wood hardener to the transom as well as everything else before putting plywood over it and then fiberglassing over that.

Wondering if anyone knows the exact model of this boat? I've tried looking but I haven't been able to conclusively tell, wondering if any experts would know. Also wondering if a 75 horsepower is a little bit overpowered for this? I could get a 75 horsepower very cheap, around 200 bucks.

Looks like it might be a 1962 Ski-Bird..

P32, Stock this boat was rated for a 50hp outboard. However, I replaced the original 1" transom with a 1 1/2 transom. I sandwiched 2 resin covered pieces of 3/4 plywood, giving me a strong transom. My boat would handle a 75 but I wouldn't want the weight back there. If you go with that engine, I'd highly recommend a new transom. That boat probably needs one anyway and it's about the easiest transom job you'll ever do. I'm real happy with this boat. It's stable, light and it looks cool. Good luck!
