Just for fun...

Right now, what would be your ideal classic boat to find and restore?

For me, barring something like that South Seas Samoan with the hard top in an earlier post, it would be a Custom Craft Delta Ray Express Cruiser. That has everything I would like except fins.

I think mine would have to be a 1957 30' Chris Craft Connie. I love the old bullnose boats. Just a touch larger than what I have now

I would like something of that vintage and size to live on for a while... alas too many projects and trinkets to fit in one lol. so I will stick with my wagemaker and aristocraft projects.

I just the old hydroplanes from the 40s and up. My two favorites are Miss Bardahl and Slo-mo-shun. Going to Hydroplane museum in Kent, WA to see them in real life.

Ya know, virtually any finned glassic would be dreamy -- but the DREAM part would be that it would be done. Fully restored, vintage outboard that is reliable, not missing this or that piece, perfect chrome, prefect upholstery... sigh... you really got me dreamin' now!

It is my 63 Sabrecraft Commander along with the 63 Merc. Now if I can just get it the restore part completed. The dream part is to see the look in my boys eyes when he is out cruising with his Dad.

Samoan with a hardtop and a nice white merc with a bronze prop sitting on a classic gator trailer with the custom fenders. Skip.

John,

Going back to your comment on the Delta Ray Sportsman, CC did put the same deck on different hulls. The T-Ray was the Aqua Ray deck on a non-catamaran hull.

Very cool boat, Taco. Is that a production boat, or did you build it? Has similar lines to one of my dream boats, 1947 Western Fairliner.

Re:Your dream boat 13 years 6 months ago #27878

This is a production boat from former East-Germany { DDR }
The brand name is " Original Schneider" and the modell is "Monsun",from 1954 to 1960 only 9 were made. All with 2 stroke, 23 Hp inboard engines. In 1963 a customer came to the shipyard and ordered a "Monsun" that was still out of production. It had to be custom made for him and it had to be the fastest Original Schneider at that time.

So, Wolfgang Schneider built this boat with hullnumber 605 to customers wants. It has a 70 Hp 2 stroke motor and runs 37,5 mph!
The boat is only 14Ft and full mahagony. The weight is less than 550 Lbs.

All fully documented and I had this boat restored in 2003 by Wolfgang Schneider who built it in 1963.

Looks like Neil and I would have to fight it out over a Chris cobra if one 'appeared', since it's been my 'dream boat' for years. When it comes to 'Glassics, though, I'm LUCKY- I've got my dream boat- The Lake N Sea Caribbean. I guess I'm just easy to please, But I've always thought that the Lake N Seas is the Epitome of late 50's styling, and is just over the top enough to be a really cool boat without being too extreme in it's styling. C"mon, now- You've GOT to love that transom!

Taco,
Now that's an awesome boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But of course like I said earlier I'm a sucker for wood boats. Would love to see some pics of her in action if you have any.

John, Thanks, that's what I get for just sending a quick comment and not looking at how it reads before hitting send! Maybe I should have said the wife is! :woohoo:

Hello Bob,

I have only 2 fiberglass/wood boats and the others are woodies. I like the finned fiberglass boats as much as the woodies but they are hardly available in Europe. Before the 70`s not many were imported.

Here are some pics of the "Monsun" in action. It runs smooth at top speed and makes incredible turns.

Mine would be an 18C Power Cat with twin Merc's on it. Make em 100 horse outboards. I would like to teach the bass boats around here a lesson. :) At least have fun trying.

I wouldn't mind an old G3 either.

Thanks Bob,

It is absolutely one of my favorites. At the moment we are working on another "dreamboat" that I wanted for a long time and finally found for sale in Pittsburgh.

This is the wood/fiberglass 1958 Chris Craft Silver Arrow. Yesterday we put the new Ford 312 interceptor back in place after the repair and re-painting of the hull, which was badly damaged due to an accident in Baltimore harbour.

I will post some more pictures when the boat is ready for the water.
