TOPIC: What's In Your Tool Kit?

What's In Your Tool Kit? 14 years 1 month ago #26935

Putting together the onboard tool kit. There's the obvious stuff: Wrenches, sockets, pint of Jack Daniel's, screwdrivers, etc.

What do you carry that's come in handy?

Duct(Duck) tape! You can fix anything with Duck tape.

I used to keep a small air horn in my tool box until last summer on a 105 degree day it blew up and scattered spark plugs and tools all over the place. Luckily no body was in the boat or around it when it happened. It was on the trailer in the driveway. We were eating lunch in the house and I heard the kaboom! It looked like a grenade went off in the box.

Truthfully, I boat on inland waters and don't carry anything other than a reversible screwdriver.

In the past when I ran L Superior or the Mississippi R, I had the common hand tools, electrical tape, wire ties, fuses, bulbs.

You could consider a spare belt if you are running an I/O or a timing belt for an old outbd.

Don't forget the obvious spare undamaged prop of the correct pitch and extra prop hardware.

I do have a small plastic tool box in my truck that is equipped with spare wheel bearings, grease seals & dust caps. Unfortunatly, each of my trailers seems to use different parts so I have several different bearings & seals in this kit.
