Nice new site Kelly, I haven't been here for awhile.

I've been restoring a 1976 10' GW Invader. It seems that I've read that these can be unstable at higher speeds. I've seen mention of adding some type of fin on the bottom to add stability, especially in turning at higher speeds. Keep in mind that mine is a 1967, which was the first model year and sometime later they modified the hulls to improve performance.

I guess what I'm asking, is....... does anyone have any first hand knowledge about how these perform? If I need to modify the hull I'd rather do it now.

I'm also still looking for an outboard, 35-55 HP, preferably OMC, SHORT SHAFT.

Any input would be appreciated.

We have one in the river here set up with a 55 or 60 HP 3 cyl johnson. He has 2 large skegs on the hull, toward the rear, one in front of the other, like on a slalom ski. Next, he has those small spring loaded K-planes (trim tabs) on each side to help stop the porpoising, which gets bad from the looks of it. Hope that helps.

That gives me something to think about. Does anyone have any good ideas for fabricating a type of fiberglass skeg on the bottom of the hull? If anyone else can add more, feel free.

And still looking for that outboard.

I would just flip it over and ck the straitness of the hull, most have a rocker, a hump if you will. It comes before the end of the hull at the transom end, just use a strait edge and you will see it if you have one. basicly you need a strait flat hull or even a hook,the opposite of the rocker.
