The Roger's estate has decided to auction the Power Cat 16c
that has been in Roy's family and in the Roy Roger's Museum
since he purchased it in 1959. His grandson Dustin, brought
the boat out of mothballs this last year, and had the motors
gone through and the whole Roger's family took it to the lake
serveral times this last year.
The auction site is www.burleyauction.com/
and will be held April 9th in New Braunfels, Texas
Several of us Power Cat'rs plan to attend the auction.

Boy Danny, I sure wish I could join y'all at the auction. It would be a kick for me just to see that boat in person.

That craigslist ad may be on the level. Roy was into boats big time. He was a part owner for a time in Yellow Jacket boats.

If you go to the auction, maybe you could ask Dustin.

Just got back from the auction. There were 4 very active bidders with the starting bids at $5k.. when it went past $15k two bidders fell to the side, and the remaining two kept at it till the final bid went unanswered at $23,000.00

good deal. that price should mean that it will be taken care of for a while to come. Thanks for the update.

Some people are like slinkies... Not much good for anything, but they sure are fun to push down the stairs.

Doug:
I got to thinking about the price level this boat went for...
Since it's what we would call a "survivor" and has not been
restored, it is in basically original condition. Most of us
would consider this a pretty high price to pay for a boat.
But say you walk in to your local marine dealer and tell them
you want to buy a 16ft ski boat, with twin 70 hp motors, that
will pull 4-6 skiers, seat 6 people, and be safe and comfortable
for use on large lakes, and open bays, and be capable of speeds above 50mph. I would bet that by the time he finds something like that ( if he could ) the price tag would be well above $40k for boat motors and trailer, ready to use.
Now of course this is a used boat, but in real world
terms of what you can acutally do with either boat, there is
very little difference. This does not take into account the
"wow" factor many of the classic boats have, especially when
they are compared to many of the modern "hot tubs on a trailer"
styling of todays boats.
