I like to drill oversized holes and used Stainless steel threaded inserts. I goop on lots of vaseline on the bolt and the inside threads of the insert, thread the bolt into the insert fill the ovesized holes with thickened resin and bed the threaded inserts with the bolt in the resin. When it hardens I can then unthread the bolt, I NEVER have to worry about water intrusion in my wood, since it is totally encased in resin.
