Does anyone have any good ideas for cleaning the dried scum off the bottom of an aluminum boat? I have tried the obvious things like aluminum cleaner and 3M pads and even things like urinal cleaner and toilet bowl cleaner. The scum is lasting longer than my patience.

Thank you,

Randy

we use a produc called "purple power"too get the black streaks off of our camper and other things, just wear a water proof glove if you use it full streangth,it will hurt your skin.
its the only thing that works on the black streaks,so ill bet it would work on your boat too.neil im going to have to try some viniger on them too,i never thought of tat, john

Vinegar and scotchbrite works well on aluminum. Green scotchbrite is really aggressive and the red brings more of a lustre.
You may try oven cleaner as was suggested here in some earlier posts.

If the boat is upside down, you can lay wet towels on all the affected areas to soften it up. You may have to do this for a few days, then use the stuff the others suggested.
