OK I am now a owner of a Holmes wooden boat...Today while in the specially wood store (here in Houston) buying items for the Yellow Jacket I told the owner that when I am done with the YJ I will then start to work on a Homes that I just acquired and the Glass YJ with the wood deck would have to be pushed back.

He said that he use to sell products to Holmes and that the son of the owner was still around and still in the boat business

3 phone calls later (a few wrong #s for the info was a few years old)I was talking to Robert Holmes....Real nice Guy

I asked him to write a history and get all the info that he could as to be able to post it on here.....come to fine out that Homles made fiberglass boats into the 70s

He said that he would do what he could ... all we can do is wait

The following old threads mention Holmes Boats, one mentions fiberglass and California, the other Canada; so maybe not related.

The US Coast Guard has a manufacturer's ID code "HWK" for Holmes Boat Works of 4404 Garrow St., Houston, TX.

Would be great to see some original literature and/or photos from the fellow. Great way to preserve and spread knowledge about Holmes Boats.

I have these photos of a 1958 Holmes (Holmes Boat Works Co.) from an ebay listing long ago:

Great news. Encourage Mr. Holmes to get information put togther. Even if he can not "write", get him to scribble down notes and memories. I for one would be willing to make it into a readable story.

WAS...went and looked at it...walked from it, was called back by the seller and end up sending am link to the Yellow Jacket project to him as to see all what goes into a project.

Told him the less he got it under cover and dried out soon; by July he would have some fire wood for the 4th

Got it for free only if I will restore it or give to someone that will restore it

Making room for it this week
