I am getting ready to update the Uniflite to a newer Teleflex Rotary helm. I am curious about how the system hooks up at the transom and to the outboard. I have a Johnson Golden Meteor on there now but the Homelite is going to be going on before the season starts. Does anyone have any pics of the transom and how this system would work with the vintage outboard?

Thanks
Nick

I like this type, because no extra holes are drilled into the boat. This type uses the engine mounting bolts to hold it in place. That will be a little different with the homelite. If the splashwell is too deep, Teleflex does make a couple adapters for engines that don't have a tilt tube. From my knowledge, they don't make the type shown here on my boat, & I'm not sure anyone makes them anymore. Try T&H marine. If not, any good welder can put one tohether for you. I suggest you use the no feedback II helm.

Nick if you want to unload the Meteor, I may be interested.

Here is my rotary steering setup. I cut a hole in the side to feed the cable through. If I used the existing holes from the cables the new rotary cable would bend too much. The brackets are homemade - not sea tested yet but it does steer smoothly on the trailer.

Atech,,I would bevel that angle iron bracket before putting any passengers on board.I also think you need some sort of 45 degree angle brace from each holding point to the bracket.I believe you are going to have more lateral force with prop torque than what you have sitting in the driveway. Then I would make the bolts end in the lock nuts.Sharp angles and protusions like that are a accident waiting to happen. You can tell me to mind my own business, this is just my opinion from looking at your pic.....

Hey guys thanks for the pics that helps me out a lot. I will have to figure out the drag link situation it appears there are several out there.

Bruce I will defineately give it some thought on getting rid of the Golden Meteor. I'll send you an e-mail once i get the other motor going. I love the power and sound the 100 horse but hopefully the homelite will cut my gas bill a bit :)
