I need a cover that I can use on my Aqua Ray when I trailer it. I see ads for trailerable covers, but was wondering a) do they actually work without damaging the boat, b) what should I be looking for or looking out for, and c) Any particular manufacturer's that anyone would recommend. I think I may have asked this before as part of another post on a different topic but without much success. I thought I would post this now to see what I get. Thanks

I bought the Attwood Premium (trailerable) cover at Wally World for just over $110 on sale Todd. It has the webbing straps sewn in, and handy clip connect tie downs about every four feet. The quality seems okay for a "daily driver" like my G-tron, but for a original classic like yours I'd be tempted to upgrade to one that has the soft lining on the inside. It would be less likely to scratch, and of course the cover and the boat should be pristine clean before installing. Any dust or dirt between the cover and the boat is potential sanding media! ;) Just my two cents......

The better the fit, the less likely there will be damage. This has a lot to do with how well the cover 'matches' the boat. You may find one that's a pretty close match- But it might require trying a couple of different sizes. Don't even TRY to get them back in the box- It's not going to happen :)

Sometimes you need to use some extra tie downs to keep it from buffeting as much in the wind- That's usually what causes damage...

A custom cover is the way to go, of course. But they are often BIG $.

I assumed that custom would be the best. The interesting thing is that I have to original canvas cover that came with the boat. That would make a pretty good pattern. If I did that, what would I need to add (straps, etc) to make something like that usable on the trailer? I tried it and was not happy with how it acted on the road.
