I saw the post announcing the 'discovery' on another board right after it happened... A well-deserved find, for sure. And, you know that it couldn't be going to a better home.

All presented, of course, with all the Pomp and drama we'd expect from Kev-Fin, too!

Incredible that it was found. I wonder how many saw it, laughed and walked away? If its the only one, why was it scrapped?

Anyway, I think we'd all love to see some large stils of the boat when you do have time to post, but the video was a fun adventure to watch.

Congrats on another great "score".

Hey everybody! Thank you for all the kind words. I was really blown away by the outpouring of good will!

This crazy boat has really been the punch line of my whole presentation for many years and I really didn't expect that one would turn up. Since this is a steel boat, I expected it to rust out and go to a scrap yard years ago and in fact, that is just what happened, but with a twist. I thought it would go to an auto scrap yard, where it would be quickly crushed and recycled. However, it went instead to a boat scrap yard from which a car collector retreived it.

Very often, people who have rare things know nothing of that rarity. This how it came to be scrapped. I believe our hobby owes a debt of gratitude to Mick Johnson for having saved this boat back in 1990. I for one would hate to reach the end of my collecting having never seen more than some grainy images.

I regret having been unable to spend much time on Fiberglassics lately and look foward to being more active in the future. I have been involved with too many difficult projects lately, but one of those is nearing completion. So, I should have more time soon to spend with some of the websites I enjoy.

I am really impressed with all of the projects that this community has unearthed and I look forward to seeing all of your progress in the future!

Stay tuned for more on the Rocket Boat as launch time draws nearer!

Sincerely
KevFin

Ken, thanks for posting the rocket video.

It was commissioned by KevFin for the BoatsInTheBelfry.com Series.
I shot and produced the work. Kevin tried his hand at directing some of the content and a few of the shots.

Only as a courtesy, the by-lines for videos from the belfry youtube playlist might be:

We sell from our sites, so if that's a problem, then just mention my name.

Feel free to post any of the videos we've made public at youtube anytime. Please note that some of the videos that have been around for a while have been removed and higher quality versions uploaded with my logo or kevin's. But the bulk of my videos are only available now for purchase from my site.

Kev: CONGRATS , you have my vote of the day. . You are our outboard version of Mark Mason, who hounded the famous Gold Cup racer Baby Bootlegger from the 20's, back around 1980. . Way before internet, he would bug telephone operators for family owners.

. When he finally talked to elusive owner the reply was "I Ordered the Boat Burned" . Go visit the Scrappy in Canada to confirm he burned it .!! When Mark visit,, the Scrappy said the Shape was so special , never saw another one, I kept it covered & hidden for One Day a true collector will find Me, But why did it take so Long Sir.!

. Again CONGRATS
