28mph by gps. need more speed. prop suggestions??

doubt you will get much more out of it. Let it be a nice comfortable cruiser the way it is. And like Waterwings said you are doing more boating than the rest of us at the moment. She looks and sounds awesome. Perfect even. Sometimes things are best to be as they are.

nice running motor! gawd, i love how these old mercs sound. music to a guy's ears...

what's that motors max rpm? what rpm were you running at wot? if you're running at max rpm at wot, i'm not sure what else you can do.

Don't have the tach hooked up. Not sure what max rpm should be.

ask those gurus over on the merc forum about max rpm. they'll know. then get your tach hooked up. the perfect prop will run your motor at max rpm at wot. that's where i get my best speed. for me, max rpm is 5200. that's what i turn wot. i had to try a bunch of different props (# of blades, material, cupped, etc) to find the one that works. i hope to have a local prop guy here tweak it just a bit, but it really is fine the way it is.
