I have been looking for a period spotlight/search light for my 64 Aqua Ray. There is a hole in the deck where an old antenna was located. I can't just repair it because it also penetrated vinyl sheeting, which can't be repaired. A have an SS plug in it right now, but would like to put a piece of vintage equipment instead. The location would be perfect for a spot light. I already have a horn

I purchased a NOS Attwood "See Scope", but the earliest date I can find for it is 1973. (Attwood gave me some info, but nothing usable - they only have catalogs back to 1978)

If anyone has any old Attwood catalogs from the mid 60's, I'd appreciate any pics or info you could send me.

But what I would really appreciate is some pics from anybody's boat that has a period appropriate light from the mid 60's. In this year's calendar, Bob Ulrich and Joe Vitas featured spots. Joe's boat especially is identified as a 1960. I'm wondering what the year of that one is and who made it. The design of my Attwood is not that far off from it.

In a perfect world, I would love to find a NOS Wilcox-Crittenden spot from the mid 60s. But if this was a perfect world, I would be out in a boat instead of shoveling snow.

Thanks for your input.

WOW
I got the same light...Mine is not NOS but was pulled off a 58 lone star that had sat on the ground too long (Whole bottom eaten out :S )...Chrome is still good. Now I was thinking it was a 58, however it could have been added to the boat later. I was just lucky the the person(s) that stripped the boat of all of the copper wire left the cord

Looking for the camera as to take some photos and post....many years sitting outside and it still looks good

BTW I gave $5 for mine

Sorry I forgot to supply Ron with the boat info for the calendar pics. Mine is an Attwood spot from 1960.

Here is the one (found the camera) I snagged (still need to be cleaned...as I found it). The TX#s on the boat came back as a 1958 boat....that does not mean that it was not installed later.....however the last time the boat was reg with the state was in 1969...reg is good for 2 years so that would be 1971....Who would put a new light on a dead boat...less they were fixing it up and something happen

opening up more questions then answers

I have a 64 MFG, bone stock original (except new transom) it has two of the spot lights exactly like Bobs (the one pictured on what looks like a wood deck) so that is pretty good verification on year you need!

I'm beginning to think mine may be on the newer side. One like Greg has on his Tomahawk would definitely look the best on my boat. Any idea who made those? We'll see what comes up. With all this snow, it's going to be a while before I go boating, but at least the lakes will be full this year.

Yes there is a mirror on the back side along with a grab handle to position the light.

I have one exactly like Bob's. It was on the boat that I had before my Thompson. It was a beautiful runabout that my dad built in 1959-60. It is in the 1960 Taylor Made catalog for a whopping $16.95. It is a sealed beam that works great. It still has the original bulb in it. I have tried other ones and I keep gong back to this one.

I did some research. They are called NuVue and were designed to install on GM cars from 59-61. An NOS pair is currently for sale for $2000. Round is starting to look a lot better.

BTW, the above picture showing the foredeck of my boat was taken at Stonington Point. They dump piles of snow in the parking lot because there is very little place else to put it. This is what it looked like yesterday morning.
