OK, so we're getting together a Custom Craft Boat owner's group over on Nickle City Classics, and we, (especially I) are having a hard time deciding on the name.

We pretty much narrowed it down to two choices:

1) Classic Custom Craft Boat Owners Association
2) Custom Craft Classic Boat Owners Association

We felt we needed to include "Classic" because there is another Custom Craft Boat Company currently in business making fishing boats somewhere down south.

I put up an informal survey on the website, and "Classic" first won by a few votes.

Most of the main people in the group like "Classic" first, but I'm still kind of partial to "Custom Craft" first.

I know this may not seem like a big deal, but since we'll have this name for a while, I'd really like to get it right.

So I'm putting the question out there to you the fiberglass boating experts...

Help us Decide!!!

Arguments for "Classic" first:

1) "the reason i thought classic custom craft boat owners,it tells people that the custom craft is a classic, the other way it kind of sounds like custom craft is a club for classic boat owners.and not a brand name, John."

2) Classic first sounds like the Custom Craft is Classic, not the boat owners, Todd.

Arguments for Custom Craft first:

1)Sounds better to me, and it seems most groups that have classic in their name start with the name on the vehicle first, Dave.

I'm basically just looking for some other's input here.

Frank
This may sound stupid
But have you tried saying the choices aloud?
Which one rolls off the tongue easier?
On paper, either looks like a tongue twister just waiting to happen.

Frank,
Interesting choices but I think I have to go with Neil on this one. If you have to choose between the two you've mentioned I'd go with the first one: Classic Custon Crqaft Boat Owners Association, however I think Neil has a good point. I think Boat Owners Assocaition of Classic Custom Craft rools off the toungue better as Lar has said and BOACCC looks good. Just my two cents.

dave, although i voted for classic custom craft, i like neil's even better "Boat Owner's Association of Classic CustomCrafts"..only difference is being Custom and Craft seperated by the bird as in the logo. ron

Why am I being pulled into this?!? I didn't say anything!

If I had a CC, I'd want choice #1, but I don't. Well I do, but not for long...

Frank
I apologize
I saw CC1000 and thru some mental funk drew an erroneous connection to your User Name PC1000. I will try not to do it again.
The avatar, should have been a dead giveaway!

That said, tho it wasn't one of the choices offered, I'm with Neil on this one: BOACCC.
It almost sounds like boat, if you try to say it... Ha!

Taking it a step further what would be wrong with a simple
CCC
Custom Craft Classics
or
Classic Custom Crafts
With the BOA being implied?
or drop the "boat"
and have Classic Custom Crafts Owners Assn?

Re:Need help with Group Name 13 years 9 months ago #21756

im still partial to "classic custom craft boat owners assn."
because dont forget that most people dont even know that a custom craft is a boat, let alone that they are classics,of course we all know that, but folks that dont dabble in classic glass dont.
but dave its your baby, you should name it what you want, john

Yuk, yuk, yuk, no problem Lar, just having some fun. When I tried to re-register when the site changed, it wouldn't take frank_a, which had been my handle for a long time. So what the heck I figured, I had a boat now, but couldn't use Power Cat (that's Danny Leger's handle), so figured with my old Merc 1000, PC1000 would be good. It's caused some confusion with CC1000, but I hate to change it again, and most everybody is used to it. Sometimes (like now), it's just funny!

Enjoy,

Frank

I agree with cc1000....you put what's important first...and it rolls off the tongue better...and maybe shorten the name.

funk it up a little...

B.O.A. of 3C Boats

or

3C Boat Group

3C.B.O.A.

I tried Club verse Group and the 'G' sounded better than a 'Ka' at the end on number 2

I agree, I also thought about shortening it up as well.

For now, (and the foreseeable future), the web address will be
http://www.nicklecityclassics.com/customcraftboats.htm

That will be what goes in the directory.

So it would follow that we could just keep it simple and call it
"Custom Craft Classic Boats "

Also eliminates the connotation that you have to own one to join,(which you do not), keeps it short and simple.

I ran similar groups early on in FG's history and I kept it simple.

Crosby Owners Group (COG)
Hydrodyne Owners Group (HOG) (and I was told I would be sued because Harley-Davidson apparently uses HOG...but it never happened and I'm still a free man....well....as free as I'll ever be!)

How about "Custom Craft Renovators International Doing Execellant Restorations?" then you'd be known by the acronym "CCRIDER" ;)

There is at least one manufacturer that has used the name Custom Craft besides the company based in Buffalo. Mostly flat water fishing boats. The name has to reflect that we only want to include those made by the Buffalo company.

Yeah, I'm thinking "Boats" and "Classics" should definitely be in the name.

"Owners Association", not so much.

There are definitely advantages to keeping it short and sweet.

I'm liking "Custom Craft Classic Boats" more and more.

Anyone have any problems/negatives with that?
