Spotted a free 19' 1967 Johnson Surfer with a Buick v-8 in it on Craigs. Anyone have a clue to what this boat looks like or any info at all. Any value to her?

Hello,
It's a 19' open bow Cathedral Hull boat made by OMC in their Purpose built plant in Waukegan Il.
They're very well built - but - they used flotation foam under the floor. If it's wet the only thing you can do is open up the floor and remove it. If it's wet you can also pretty much plan on the stringers being bad as well.
You can check it back in the motor well - take an ice pick and probe the stringers that the motor mounts attach to. The other way to know if it's wet is to take it to a scale and weigh it. Shipping weight for a Surfer was 2,300#. Of course also beware of cracked blocks and bad ball gears. Those are the gears that drive the sterndrive. They're hard to find for the older drives and very expensive when you find them. If the "fingers" in the ball gears are more than about 1/3 worn drop the price by $350-500 if you can.

They aren't particularly valuable but are a very nice boat to run and enjoy.

Here's a page from the 1967 Johnson Catalog.

Thanks for the info and pictures.Saves me the hassle of trying to get in touch with owner. The boat design does not suit my personal taste.
