TOPIC: Craigslist Find! Lower Units Galore!!

Craigslist Find! Lower Units Galore!! 13 years 10 months ago #19428

Found these on the Albany Craigslist last week and a friend of mine from the area grabbed them for me, delivering them over the weekend. About half of them are Chrysler/Force, with the rest being a mix of Johnrudes and Mercurys, with one MerCruiser and one Yamaha thrown in for flavor. Should keep me busy for awhile as I sort through them. Some seem to be serviceable lower units, some are empty housings, and there are a few that will simply be scrapped out. Parts is parts, eh?

I assume those are from Jon up in S Glens Falls? He's the guy I got my parts '63 merc 1000 from for all of 125 bucks.

in the front of the photo looks like there is a selectric lower unit for a 3 cyl OMC. If it does not leak and is in working order I may be interested. I have a 73 3 cyl 65 Johnson that could use it.

Hi Jim,
That unit is actually for a 2-holer 50hp and won't fit the 3-cylinder model. Also, are you sure your motor is a '73? That was the first year of the hydromechanical shift. '72 was the last year of the electric shift on the 3-cyl...
