I am realy looking forward to watching the progress of your U-2 but we need the before pictures and a lot more pictures of what you are doing.

ya,just had to cut the deck out to get to the rotted wood not it is all remove and replace with new wood.

got all of the glass work done on the inside of the hull.i also flip her over to do the work on the underside.

don,t know yet.i am just do all of this work just so i can get a set of mold out of her after that i will built a brand new 50th anniversary edition Commander U-2.Well that is the plan anyway let see if i pull it of.

Got the temporary hull mold done,good enough to make a brand new 50th anniversary edition U-2 from then i will cut it up after that.The mold is just made from 3layer of 1/12 oz mat with no tooling gel.

I have had several people ask about the fins for repopping, you might want to make some extras, Mine is up on the top rack and it won't be coming down soon,,there were 3 U-2 sold last year with no fins that I know of,,just a thought Bill

got the hull prime ,deck back on her,and throw some putty on to fair her out.should be all sand tomorrow so i can work on the mold of the deck.

What are you planning to use for a motor, being your 50th anniversary model will have to be registered as a home built which means you are not limited to H/P used.
If your intention is to insure it take a picture of your 35 Johnson sitting on it and if at a later date you decide to try a bigger motor on it for a " if see Trial " you should not have a problem with them if something was to go aerie. There is a 59 55hp Merc. in my area but a forum member MadProps has some concerns about it calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-boats-watercraft-parts-trailers-accessories-1959-Mercury-Mark-55A-H-complete-with-gas-tank-steering-W0QQAdIdZ228863218 Agian I sure would like to see what you could do if you were to be a little more radical. Just for quick idea: use the old U-2 and make some big fins not as big as the Bat Boat but big enough to be on the bottom side of outragous. Then put some unigue light and bezels on it. I am sure if you were to ask the forum members for some more ideas you would be be bombbarded with suggestions. Looking forward to see it done. |

i already use the old boat to register it and put the number on the new boat once it is done,it is register with a 70hp outboard.i have friend that work in the survey so with the insurance issue it is not a big deal.The new boat is just going to be new with wood free nothing fancy.i would like to keep it original look maybe just a locker in the front deck for the fuel tank.

now the u-2 is all glass up,fair,and prime she is ready to store away for a long time as i have to find a nice shop to built a new u-2 for next year.
