I took this morning to paint the '69 Fabuglas Commodore Cruiser.
We worked on her this weekend.. and it's supposed to rain tommorrow... so today was the day.

After the bodywork was complete- my son and I shot 3-wet coats of high-build primer on Saturday. The we guidecoated it.

This was then dry-blocked with 320g sandpaper. Then we watersanded it with 400g.

This morning I taped it off,

I wiped it down with wax and grease remover, tacked it off with a tack-cloth, and began the 3 wet coats of color. I already had some extra yellow basecoat (Dupont) from a 1951 Chevy Convertible.. but it was a bit too pale. So, I took it to the paint store and had a bit more intense yellow added.

Then It was another 3 wet-coats of Dupont Urethane Snap-Dry Clear. I like to "untape" after about 45 minutes of dry-time. You generally don't pull up the edges this soon. If you wait overnight- often you need a razorblade in some areas to get the tape off without lifting.

I added the pinstripes with photoshop..

I hope to spend the rest of the week assembling the rub-rail, gauge panel, radio, and Motor... Who knows.. I may be in the water this weekend...

I'll add this photo. It's later in the evening and shows the true color much better.
