TOPIC: Can somone verify this as a 64 Delta Ray?

I have more pictures, I'll post them once I have them uploaded to the web!


I was gifted this boat from my father, I just recently discovered what I think it is as a 64 delta ray. My father purchased it when he was 17, almost 35 years ago and he was told at the time not many of them were produced and that the company went out of business whom had made the boat. He recalled it being called something along the lines of a "westmount".

Any information would be welcome, if it is a delta ray can anyone tell me more about them or where I can research them better I haven't had much luck besides on this forum browsing.

It's definitely a Custom Craft Delta Ray, I couldn't say about the year though. 64' offered headlights on some models, so it could be right on the money.

SY: GREAT DEAL , Headlight boats are very desirable . Believe there is a boats show in Buffalo this weekend for the 50th anniversary of Custom Craft.? Guess you are out of Canada. A Mercury 6 cyl is the perfect motor for trhat rig. CONGRATS.

can you give us a Serial # off the inside rear transom .?? that would tell the year. Should be small impressed letters, numbers ,up side down, drivers side of the splashwell, almost under the Merc motor .! Again ENJOY .

I'll take a look, tomorrow I'd have to un-tarp it and it looks like its about to rain soon. I'd love to make it to one of these shows your talking about but I wont be able to make it to this weekend. Do they have swap meets or is it more of a show and shine?

I took a look,the transom all looks "repaired" if you look at the read veiw of the boat it has that aluminum plate o the outside it also folds up and to the inside of the transom. I'll post a picture of what I'm talking about tomorrow maybe, but there are two peices of metal flashing covering up what looks like where the fiberglass was cut flat.

so I don't think i have those numbers, can i use the numbers on the side of the boat, the boat registration numbers ?

. That Aluminum transom cap plate is where you want to look for CODE , again VERY SMALL impressed ex 14-6-3226 DR , possible 1964 June build of Devil Ray . ?? We think . Under the side where cables & steering cable connect to engine . !

I ran into that forum a few weeks back, if that's a devil ray then that is for sure what my boat is, has the same side step..... but in the forum they concluded that it was a deltaray?

Well, when I was younger we had a 70HP on it and we could just get it to plane, right now its got 100hp merc and last time we had it out we had 14 people in it and we could get her on a plane with a slight chop! I think the top end barrings are going to I'll have to take the top end apart.

It sounds like it way too much work and hassle. If you'd like, I'll take it off your hands for you.

I'd imagine you would , does anyone know how many were made? I'm under the impression that the number of custom crafts in general are on the scarce side. what are some of the values to these boats?

wecome sy,im pretty sure it is a 1964,it has the same fins and dash (except its set up for a mercury) as the 64 sunray i just restored.in the the 1st pic is the dash i rebuilt,it was a dash like yours.

this sunray also has headlights,and all the lights still work,lol

The numbers are on the side with the steering cables? I'll take another look!
Tee Nee trailer? It's the the ones I see in the pictures big round fenders and the elongated tail lights!

ps one of the tail lights fell off a few years ago I haven't been able to replace it any ideas where to get one?

the numbers should be on the starbord side ,at the top,on the inside of the splashwell,the #s will be upside down so that when you lean into the splashwell,you can read it,from outside the boat.
