TOPIC: Lauson fuel tank

I just took my Lauson fuel tank off to clean the points after setting for about 15 years and wondering what would clean the gum out the tank best carb was run dry when run last also looking for the lower shroud and tiller arm

To clean out a good tank.. I use drain-cleaner (crystals: Sodium-HyDroxide) and a bunch of steel nuts.

1)Put in the drain cleaner crystals- about 1/4 cup per gallon tank.
2)Add the HOTTEST tap-water you can to fill the tank 1/2 way.
3)Put in a few handfulls of nuts/bolts, etc..
4)Shake the tank vigorously- remembering to turn it over and get the TOP of the tank too...
5)Dump out the drain cleaner.. it is biodegradable and so is the iron-oxide(rust)
6)Fish the nuts/bolts out with a magnet

***NOTE: Drain cleaner can mess up paint. Be careful not to get any on the painted surfaces of the tank- unless you already plan to re-paint.

well I got it to run used acetone to clean the varnish out of the tank still need a tiller arm for it hear is a pic of the motor
