When I had my Century it was insured by Hagerty. No "appraisal" you set an agreed upon price for total coverage. The insurance covered the usual liability etc. If there is a total loss ie. fire, sinking etc. they pay the agreed upon $$. All I had to do was document the boat, registration, title, pictures of the entire boat, motor, fuel lines.
That was quite a few years back so things might have changed...or not.
