TOPIC: Best way to Mount a Kicker?

Best way to Mount a Kicker? 7 years 1 month ago #133569

I would like to mount a 5.5 hp kicker on a 1966 Pacific Mariner, but am concerned with disfiguring an all original mint condition boat.
Does anyone have any suggestions or advice?
Thanks!

Welcome aboard glad your here. Well i have to say I can't think of one without having to mount a plate to the transom, unless you can come up with something that would hang over the back and connect inside the boat back at the transom.

I have to agree. My 72 has a kicker. I bought a mount that goes up and down and mounted it on the transom. Some previous owner had done the same and had not plugged the holes. I put a 1/2 inch plywood backup on the inside, to keep it from deforming or tearing through the fiberglass, because my transom is not cored. No wood in there, it's solid glass. Doesn't look attractive at all but works. Oh yeah, I had to get a tiller extension for the outboard.
