TOPIC: Looking for some some knowlege

Looking for some some knowlege 7 years 6 months ago #131358

Gentleman,
I am trying to ID a boat hull I picked up. It's very similar to a Donzi but definitely is not one. I have search literally hundreds of different pics from the mid to late 60's and early 70's. I am having no luck what so ever. She is 18 foot long and very heavily constructed. I am pretty sure it isn't a splash hull of a Donzi because the differences are too dramatic. Does anyone recognize this old girl!!

If there's a HIN or serial number stamped in the upper right corner of the transom, the first three digits are the manufacturer identifier.. You can look up the manufacturer on the Coast Guard's website, there are listings for both active and inactive manufacturers..

I checked everywhere for a serial number. The transom, under the front deck, under the side rails, but nothing. I am stumped on this one!

Well at least now you know it was probably built before November 1, 1972, that's when the Coast Guard's standardized HIN (Hull Identification Number) requirements went into effect.. All boats built after that date were required to have a 13 digit HIN molded, stamped, or engraved on the transom..

It looks kind of like a Donzi Sweet 16 to me.

It does have those line but I'm not sure the transom area is correct for the sweet 16. It could just be a knock off of the donzi by a company that didn't last long. There were a lot back then.

The sheer line and shape of the top deck are too different from a Donzi. It is also a full 18' long.

Stern cutout is for a Mercruiser. Weren't the Donzis V-drives?
