TOPIC: GW invader 8' Skibird

Hello fellow boaters. I have and am restoring an 8' Skibird by GW Invader. This was their first boat model, prior to the more famous 10 footer. I know not many of these boats were built and very few are left today. Do any other members have a Skibird? I would love to hear from you if you do!

Hi Jeff,I do.

Mine is NOS and has never been put together but...a long time ago someone painted it and all the paint is flaking off so it looks like crap.

I'm hoping I can get to the original gelcoat and that it is in good condition.

I will try finding time to get it put together this summer but will also be working on my 14 footer also built by GW Invader.

Thats very close to what mine looked like when I draged her home. Last winter I replaced the core and transom, but the project has stalled since then. I have a 10' Invader as well waiting it's turn for a resto. I'll post some pics of mine with the new core and transom. Good luck with yours!

I am in the process of restoring my 8' Fury which is a lot like the GW.
The stringers were just 1/4" ply covered in glass. I was thinking of using the white fibre board (fake wood) as it would not rot. this is my first resto so any help is appreciated
