Here in the mid Atlantic states I never would have imagined that I would come across a Herters Flying Fish because it seems that they mostly hideout in the midwest or Texas or Wisconsin or a damn long way away from here. Well damned if I didn't run across one for sale just about a mile and a half from my home. She's been run hard and put away wet but you will not hear one single complaint about that from me...ever. Based on what I've read here and what I am looking at on the boat it's a 1958 Standard Flying Fish. No tail lights. No hand holds between the front and back seats. There is, however a complete trim package around the entire boat. Certainly one less thing to scour around ebay trying to locate. What it does have is a couple of fiberglass patches that need to be made. There is also what looks like a satisfactory at best hull patch where the PO maybe hit something and the dashboard has some ugly repairs that what I gather was where the glove box and cigarette holder used to be. I'm sure I'll dig up more issues as I get into it further but as yet nothing is scaring' me yet. I'm gonna give this baby the love. Now I don't expect to get the results that people like Nautilus or Bilnan would achieve but I won't embarrass myself here. Not no way. Details to follow.

finding these things closer and closer to home, it might be be cause once the bug bites , our heads are on swivels looking at every nook and cranny now trying to find the next build. i found mine two blocks from my house i kept seeing it and thought one day ill ask. i wanted to get it before the front curved windows were broke, i told him i'd give him 200.00 i probably could have gotten it for 50.00 but best 200.00 spent so far. good luck it will look cool with the fins on the water . a crowd pleaser

Nice find. There is a lot of info on this site about restoration of those. I have a gazillion pics if I can find them that I can share.

Hi guys.
Billy, it's gonna be quite some time before I could get this boat to be a "head turner" but at least that's my goal. If I could get it anywhere close to your yellow one, 63Sabre, I would die a happy man. Unless restoring the boat kills me...

To paraphrase...we're from Fiberglassics, we're here to help you.

I did find all my pictures from the very start of teardown to the final screw and how I did those things. There were over 300 holes to be filled some you could put your head through.
