TOPIC: Promoting Glassic wish list...

Promoting Glassic wish list... 7 years 10 months ago #129183

I have too many projects but... long ago I saw the NFCACBS (Niagara Frontier Chapter, Antique Classic Boat Society) took a wood boat and made it half & half.
Right down the center of the keel. Half restored, half as it was found?
This would be perfect in my eyes to do the same in glass to promote Glassics the same way ? Then travel with it, and show the potential ? restore right down the Center of boat, trailer and motor ! Just push all the sh-tuff to one half, restore the other half !
OH... to have disposable income ?

What you really need is disposable TIME. At my age, time is becoming a big factor...time and energy...both fading fast.

Jan,
Don't you ever believe That !
Once you accept it, it will happen ! We are here too short to worry about the end.
You still have the Chris without a keel, a Shepherd, Gentlemen Racer, and the monster motor to finish ! Plus your paying customers to tend with.
Besides, You said...you are the second most interesting man in the world,
and have plenty of Dos XX the drink !
Don't ever give-up.... I won't !

I'm not giving up...just being pragmatic about it all. I just wish I had started this business 30 years (or more) ago.

I sold the Shepherd and the gentleman's racer hull but I still have the V12 that's supposed to go into "something" at "sometime." I also own eight other collectibles waiting for new owners. I don't have the time or energy to work on my own boats what with all the work from paying clients. Maybe this summer? Maybe, but last summer sure didn't work.

Peggy and I are going to leave the country for a little more than a month this coming spring...taking two trans-pacific cruises back-to-back. She's had some serious health issues this past year and that's just one more thing to make you start thinking about priorities. It's a time thing...again. We sure as hell don't intend to wait until we have to go in wheelchairs wearing diapers. I suppose I could take the time and money for the trip and do the Chris Craft instead but as I said, it's a matter of priorities.

The plan is to just keep plugging away. It beats the hell out of trying to live on social security.

Man,...I hear all that, and it really sucks that the 'Golden Years' can become "Fool's Gold" - at least it is in my case.
My Wifey-Pooh, although significantly younger that this old dinosaur, is constantly confronted with serious physical illnesses.
We are looking for that escape that we can afford, and get her bones warmed up to the core.

The concerns with continued income seemingly required to financially survive...Really needs to allow a temporary set-back when the need involves the stability of the 'nest' or a loved one.

Being 'blessed' with the drive of self survival, I'm confident that both you and I have the ability to survive financially, and then return to driving forward after stepping away for family needs.
Please give Peggy a big ole hug from Doc Frankenmerc.

If your trans-pacific cruises puts you into a position to stop & tour my lil Mercury Magic Shoppe I would love to meet you.
There is a really nice Native American owned casino and motel about (8) miles from my cabana.
I would enjoy buying you folks dinner and getting time to chat - if it works out in your scheduling.

Chuck, there is a boat repair shop here that did that years ago with a mid 70's hull. One side perfect the other as it sat in the mud was and is still looking very cool (last time I saw it a couple years ago). They used to take it to boat shows to promote the bis.

As for all this time/years left stuff, I have come farther than I have to go but still trying to do as much now as I did 25 yrs ago, maybe more and I feel every second of it when I finally sit down at night. I will be working every day till I get planted so I just don't think about it or try not to. Poor planning on my part and a X that decided that she was more imortant than the US has made it perfectly clear I will be swinging a hammer and dolly when I tip over.
No problem as long as its a fun project along the way.

Yep I started this late too but too much Navy moving etc made it too hard to do. Now that I finally can it's taking way too long. Too many life things going on and of course my mind saying I'm still in my late 20's and my body quickly reminding me your well over double that idiot, doesn't help. lol

Sorry you had to get rid of a few toys Jan but totally understand Family first always! You should have a blast on your cruises. Will your new assistant be holding down the fort while you're gone?
