TOPIC: What is this style of seating called?

What is this style of seating called? 7 years 11 months ago #128258

My Count came with no seats outside the cuddy cabin but it has couple of brackets I had never seen before by the helm that I thought looked like some sort of seating. Now that I found this picture, it makes sense and I'd like to restore the original style seating but I don't know what search term to use to find it.

I've always heard them referred to as "folding helm seats." Chris Craft used them in cruisers up into the 1960s. Best bet might be to look for someone parting out an old cruiser. You will also need foot rest brackets but these are priced too high:

Thanks Nautilus, I was afraid I would have an excuse to stop spending money on this boat but you were there to save me.

This was a while ago, but someone on here did a build of one, showed hardware and all. Like a said, a long time ago, but may still be around in archives somewhere.

I have these in one cruiser and and working on a second one, they are Garlick 75055 Helmsman side mount hardware. The base is supplied by you, I have one that is painted plywood and plan on using a plastic for the next one. You can get the fold down boat seats of your choice to mount on top. I got both from a boat supply on Ebay. The new ones have two support legs instead of one. I still added an extra wide tip than what came with the kit. The foot support is pretty simple on ours, one is in permanent position, the other has a hinge that you can flip up if not in use. These are available from several places.

First, do no harm!
It's a lot easier to buy a boat than sell a boat.(Stole this from a member!)
All that work and hardware store mailbox letters for the hull? Tsk tsk..
