TOPIC: They just keep following me home

I brought a 1966 G3 with the orig 1966 60hp short Johnny on it home today. Where I am going to put it I don't know but I told the owner I would try to help him sell it. Needs the usual transom and floor but is really in nice shape over all. The engine was winterized in 2012 and its been in a barn from then on. No sign of mice or any critters at all.

Congratulations on the new boat, but I am fairly certain that the boat you have is not a 1966. I believe the last year they offered the dual cockpit like yours was either 1961 or 1962.

Center Deck G-3s like this one you have were only built in 1959-1961, the 1966 was open deck. If it has a shallow footrest board across the floor under the dash it is a 1961, if not it is a '59, or '60 model like mine. Mine is 1960. I Am pulling it thru shallow water here.

Its not mine, yet anyway, I am just saving it for a friend that had to relocate/move outa state. I have the registration in case it sells and it says 66 but hey wtf do I know? You guys know better than me. The engine is a 66 and he was told it was original to the hull.
This is odd, Tomorrow I will look for the HIN# and see where that goes. Thanks for the info.

Well that didn't take long. I just couldn't let this one pass me by specially since it was sitting in my drive way. Man I got a problem.
After looking it over very deeply it really was/is worse of that we thought so after a long talk I have decided to take the hull. The 60hp Johnson is for sale and the trailer for him to try to recoup some of his money.
So I started taking it apart and things just got worse and I have changed many of my plans for this winter now.

Through all the ripping and tearing I took the steering off and found this under all the paint in the center of the wheel. Its glass and very cool.

Looks like a 1960 model hull #783. Guessing the P indicates it was built in Petersburg VA.

You are correct Terry!! My 1960 has original id plate and it was built in Petersburg, Va. and was number 628 off the line!! A bit older that the onen above LOL!!!
