TOPIC: Help finding some cleats/tie downs

Help finding some cleats/tie downs 8 years 1 month ago #126527

Hello all. I'm looking at a cost comparison of having some cleats re chromed or just sourcing replacements. Unfortunately all of my searches bring up similar, but not exact replacements.

I'm specifically looking for:
(2) FOUR screw hole torpedo cleats
(2) tie downs like in the pic attached

They are on my 1965 Starcraft Arrow

I don't need to have brand new or perfect, but would like them to me in much better shape then the current ones. It's the blink that will make my baby complete.

Stay focused on ebay vintage boat parts. Just bid on 2 cleats I've been looking for for a couple of months. They are out their.
Good luck

What size are the torpedo cleats? I have a few but they might be to large.

I'll have to measure them but I think they are about 5" long. They are not the tiny ones.

Bummer the cleats I bid on the other day sold last night for $132.50 my high bid was $60 and when I went to bed I was high at $32. Bidding took off later with two guys who had not bid earlier I guess they had a ball. Glad I went to bed thinking I was a winner otherwise I probably would have gotten caught up in the bidding war and cost myself more than I wanted to spend.

Sure hope more show up or I will be kicking myself.

Don't kick yourself. They will come up again. Put in your highest bid, that you are willing to pay, and let it be at that. nothing on e-bay ever happens till the last minute of the auction. Be patient, you'll catch people sleeping on E-bay and find what you need.
You can also check Auctionzip.com. Might find something there ?
I only got caught up, once and will not do that again.
For you A set of cleats going for that price ? Is WAY too much. I've gotten a boat and trailer for less. Took what I needed, and scrapped the rest.
Season is almost over. A set of cleats now, won't make your boat float any better.

Of course you right but when collecting pieces for a restoration I often get nervous and want what a want when I want it and it costs me. Oh well I can then move on to something else.
