we used to call them pumkin seeds or hydro planes, but that was 50 years ago. and they were home made

minimax and ninimost are names that glen -L marine gave there hydros. they still are listed in there catalog

The name is actually what they were called when they were originally published. I believe they were from Science and Mechanics magazine. I built a MiniMax about 50 years ago when I was a kid. I had more fun with that boat than any other boat I've ever owned.

When I built mine at age 12 it was a minimax. I had a 7.5 Scott Attwater i got from my grandfather. Flipped it first day Easter Sunday in Dayton Ohio. Then I made one when I was 38 and put an 18 hp Johnny. What fun. Hard to turn without a little keel.
