TOPIC: Help Me ID This Boat Please!

Hello all!

I am new to this forum and brand new to owning a boat (purchased my first one 2 days ago). I've always had a greater appreciation for products from a time when things were built right and as a result, when I went looking for a boat and motor, I ended up looking for those built in the 50's and 60's. I purchased an old fiberglass boat that came with a 1960 Evinrude Lark II and because I live in Illinois and we don't have real lakes here (resulting in a 10HP limit) I went and purchased a nice old 1958 Johnson 10HP QD-19 to use on the small fishing "lakes".

I want to get started in developing a rehab plan for my boat and identifying the make and model will help me in deciding if it's worth restoring to original or if I should just completely customize it to what I want.

The first three characters of the HIN are ILZ. So, according to the HIN it was titled as a homemade boat, but it doesn't look homemade to me...

Maybe Glass Craft made at Fort Dodge, Iowa? Look at the Glassic Library here for old brochures, etc...

It is not homemade. The 12 character MIC = Manufacturer's Identification Code was assigned by the state of Illinois. It has NOTHING to do with the boat manufacturer or year of the boat.
