TOPIC: Spider cracks in Gel coat

Spider cracks in Gel coat 8 years 2 months ago #124872

Hi.. I have small spider cracks in the gel coat on my 1971 Centurian boat. Can I get rid of these by wet sanding? Buffing with a wheel?
Thanks for your input..

There's no way that I know of to get rid of them permanently other than to grind each spider "leg" with a moto tool, fill with epoxy, sand flush, wet sand to 600 and then re-gelcoat or paint.

jan is correct, and in my case some re-appeared from boating in rough water. from what i understand the only positive way to prevent it from happening is to grind them out right down to the fiberglass mat,and then re--finish. ron
