TOPIC: Where to find tiller cable bracket?

Where to find tiller cable bracket? 8 years 3 months ago #123449

I have a 1964 Sears 150 and need to restore the steering cables, pulleys etc. One of the parts I am missing is the bracket to attach the cables to the engine.

Do anyone know where I can purchase this part?

Thanks!

Mark

The ebay item id given is invalid, no result has been sentI believe that was an OMC motor, so this part number may be what you are looking for. 377440

Evinrude is an OMC brand (as is Johnson).

Sorry. I thought it was a Sears motor. Anyway, hopefully that is what you are looking for.

OMC made various other private label motors as well.

I should have mentioned in my original post that the picture I attached was not of my engine but one that showed a similar attachment point.

Fortunately your link got me to a listing for a connector that I think will work on my Evinrude. Thanks!

Now all I need to do is figure out how to correctly wrap the cables around the steering drum. I know this has been discussed before on the forums but its still not very clear to me. A few pictures showing a wrapped drum would be very helpful.

If you do a google search for tiller steering, you will find some forums that have drawings. I changed mine out to Uflex a couple of weeks ago, but I had changed the tiller cable earlier in the year. It isn't hard to do. I just recommend you have extra feet so that you can center the engine properly. I started on one side and worked my way around. I know some people start at the hub.
