TOPIC: Long Beach to Catalina Island crossing

Ahoy! If anyone out there is interested, I am taking my maiden voyage across the channel from Long Beach to Catalina. Dora, is 1965 Glasspar Seafair Sedan with a 90hp Merc. I love a buddy boat to go with. Weather and conditions permitting, we are planning on heading out at sunrise on May 13th. Let me know if your up for an adventure!

I'd go with you but I'd never make it in time. It would take me at least until the 13th just to get to the Panama canal.

Where is your point of departure in Long Beach? Are you heading for Avalon, the Isthmus or someplace more isolated?

Hey Jerry! We will most likely be launching at Davies. The shortest path to Two Harbors is out of the Angels Gate opening in the breakwater so we'll probably travel that path.

Check out the California chapter, GoldenStateGlassics.com. There are members out of SoCal. I know it's a short notice, but maybe you can get some locals there to go with you. They've done this cruise a few times before. I can post something on The GSG forum for you if you'd like. This is a cruise I'd love to do someday. We've launched out of Alamitos Bay and Davies in 2011 during the 2011 Day on the Bay two day meet .
