TOPIC: I Hate 3rd Shift!!!!

Yeah, I have been on 3rd shift for two weeks now and this is what happens!!!! Progress is at a standstill, but will resume when I get off this shift!!!!!



Oh, but it is nice new clean plastic covering her up though, no old dirty stuff !!!!

Worked swing shifts for over 38 years.

Me too! I could work 7-3, 3-11, but the 3rd simple sucks and hated it, even if not much or for long.

We rotate from 3rd to 2nd to 1st and we are on each shift for a month. By the time you get adjusted to the schedule, it's time to rotate again. 3rd shift is especially rough when we work a Saturday night, then the weekend is shot.

Just one more reason why I work for myself. I did all that in the Navy in the Tonkin Gulf...8 on/8 off and then 12 on/12 off, 7 days/week for months at a time. Most of the time I had no idea what day it was or whether it was day or night. Now I work on antique boats, 7 on/17 off, 5 days/week...if I'm in the mood. It doesn't suck.

I've been night shift for about 20 years now. Started nights in the Navy, and now I'm on swing. I prefer 3rd over 2nd. On swing shift, you disappear. at least on 3rd, I get to have breakfast and dinner with my wife and kids.

I was self-employed ans sometimes worked all three shifts in a day and mostly 15-17 daily. I found time.

Well, our boat is 45 minutes away from where I live. By the time I get home after dealing with the obstacle course we call the interstate, I am ready to chill out and recover from the night. With my job, I am constantly moving, constantly wet sanding vehicle bodies by hand, inspecting and smoothing them, getting them ready for primer and paint. When I get home, I'm pretty well spent. About to change shifts in a week, so, I will have more time to continue with the progression. The cabin and boathouse are being painted at this time also, so on the positive side of things, 3rd shift has been good in that I haven't been down there in the way of the painter.
