Recently filmed video of a FrankenMerc shot on the only warm(ish), non-rainy day we've had up here in the PNW for a while. Not a 'Glassic boat, but the engine is certainly a classic! I like this video for the sound, particularly the two runs with camera facing forward (there are also two runs with the camera facing aft, but sound isn't as good).

Really like that boat! Home built: did you get plans for it somewhere you can share? And what model/year is the Merc?

Hi Ken,

The boat was made from plans available from Wooden Boat magazine. The design is called Rascal and is just under 15' long, cold-molded batten-seam construction. It is planked in mahogany, with maple deck.

The engine is the real gem here and is a custom build by Doc Frankenmerc (Thom Adams) who frequents this site. It's just an amazingly beautiful and powerful motor. The vintage look really matches the boat.

The powerhead is an early '60's 100HP (with some mods) that resides in a 1961 80HP housing, a real sleeper!
