TOPIC: 1960 Flying Scott 60 h.p. motor

1960 Flying Scott 60 h.p. motor 8 years 7 months ago #120436

Hi - I have recently discovered my dad's 1960 Flying Scott 60 h.p. motor that came off of his 15.5 foot Larson in 1978. It was in running condition at that time, and has been stored in a basement since then. It is in good shape, and has the original controls. The cowl is light blue, if that helps.
I am trying to find out what it might be worth. An interested buyer would need to pick it up in the metro Denver area.
I would welcome any advice and suggestions. Thanks

The very first boat I purchased had that motor on it, ran like a dream and if I remember it had a cool light on the cowl that lit up while running.
Price wise is a toss up to your area. Depends on who is looking for a motor and what to use it for. Someone might just want a "runner" to put on a fishing boat and looking for a cheapie around $150. Another might be looking for a cool motor to put on a glassic and willing to pay more like around $400. knowing that it will need repairs and refreshment.
I would put it on Craigs for $600, wait for some feedback and then negotiate to the figure you have in back of your mind.
Then again you could sell it to the Nigerian Prince who will offer you your fair asking price but who needs your paypal account to transfer all your cash out. Happens pretty regular to me.
