TOPIC: Could this be the end?

Could this be the end? 8 years 7 months ago #120184

If I ordered the correct impeller...My 1959 Playmaster might have it's maiden voyage NEXT week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a long strange trip it has been!
I decided I want to use My Amphicar to tow it to ramp.
So much work still needs to be done!

Some guys have all the cool toys! Great news on the playmaster. If you launch it with the Amphicar, you should drive it in car first just to mess with everyone at the launch.

CONGRATULATIONS !!!!
Now you can use the Amphicar to tow the boat to the water, Then freak everyone out by towing the Amphicar in the water with the boat !

That's a very cool ride and it would be a lot of fun on the roads you travel. However, taking it on I-85 in Atlanta around 5:00 P.M. would be a suicide mission and I doubt that it would survive a collision with a Smart Car.

On the Amphicar...this is a good time to squeeze a small block Chevy in there. Any project worth doing is worth over-doing. Nothing really radical is necessary. 350 HP should be enough but you'll need much bigger props. Anyway, I figure you should get right around 85 MPH, maybe 90. Take and post some videos of the faces of the bass boat drivers as you blast past and then drive up the launch ramp. Guaranteed to go viral.

85 mph dragging a boat on it's trailer through open water, I'd pay to see that.

Dave, my dad had a Amphicar when I was 14 DAMN! I had more fun splashing it! Ended up putting a aluminum hinged flap to cover the props to stop all the looky-loos the road. Only pix I have. Wish the best Dave!

Beautiful job! Wow on the 'before and after'!

What color blue did you use on the boat? It looks extremely close to the blue on the 'bomber. Which I'd like to redo this spring when the floor gets redone...

The color is a custom mix my customer picked out for his car. I can get paint code. If I were to do again I would learn to do gel coat.
Amphicar pic, I remember seeing the same pic a long time ago. I am glad it still brings back good memories.

10-4. That would be awesome if you can get the code.

I may learn gelcoat myself, but not on this one. ;)

Thanks!

Almost show time. View from the mirror leaving the boat prison.

Very close to water and its new home. I can tell the boat is getting anxious to get wet.
