TOPIC: Looks like I'm relocating to New Jersey.....

.....in the Jersey City area.
Anyone know of boat clubs or classic boat interests in the area?

lucky you..lol..lake hopatcong acbs about 45-50 miles nw of jersey city. and theres a few acbs chapters around the jersey shore area. theres also the knucklebusters antique outboard motor club (AOMC)in south jersey. i live about 20 miles to the north of jersey city in lodi. welcome....ron

I'm about an hour south of jersey city on the Barnegat Bay. Like Ron said there's a bunch of clubs around, even more random people with similar interests. Welcome to Jersey!

a little ways south of where your going.. im on the Delaware River.. just below the Delaware Memorial bridge.. but i boat anywhere from the bays. rivers all the way to the Upper Chesapeake Bay through the C&D canal... Chesapeake and Delaware Canal.. grew up on the water in manahawkin.. ran all over the barnegat bay as a kid..lol

Welcome to Jersey Merccooper, there is a launch under the GW bridge (Ft Lee) that on a calm day is one of the most awesome places to go boating. If you're feeling brave, you have Liberty marina a short drive from anywhere in JC. The lower Hudson/upper bay can be challenging at times but manageable, these are places you could explore at high tide. Like the guys mentioned above, Lk Hopatcong and Barnaget Bay are a good time and if I may add Greenwood Lk to that. All 3 are about an hour and a half away from you.

Funny! I didn't think about the tides until you mentioned it. Something new for me in boating

ya also got the hackensack river about 10 miles north of you, but its tidal. ive never been on it but theres a launch in secaucus. ron

The Secaucus launch is free too. Not the most scenic of places but good for kayaking and nature lovers. Another gem is the Sandy Hook area, you can zip around the bay then maybe anchor the boat and walk across the street go to the beach and swim in the ocean in the summertime.
